John Slothower is an innovation manger with Best Buy, leading a team developing direct-to-consumer strategies for at-risk inventory, including on-line auctions. As part of the Asset Recovery department, he is charged with reducing the write-off associated with customer returns, overstock, and at-risk inventory.He joined Best Buy in 2003 as a business development manager exploring opportunities with consumer electronics trade-in and liquidation. The lessons from the initial experiments have resulted in a meaningful reduction in inventory write-off by increasing sales directly to consumers through multiple eBay stores and other channels. Prior to joining Best Buy he spent 8 years as a technology consultant on web-based services and 15 years as an operations manager in the newspaper industry.
